As a Bar Waiter/Waitress , you play a key role in ensuring a seamless, professional, and enjoyable beverage and guest service experience onboard. You will deliver high-quality drinks and attentive service in the bar, lounge, restaurant, and sundeck areas. Your contribution extends beyond the bar—supporting luggage handling, guest engagement, and teamwork to create a smooth, memorable journey for both guests and crew. This role combines technical service skills with collaboration, adaptability, and pride in hospitality. Conditions: Free food and accommodation on board Seasonal work with contracts from March to November renewable each season River ships are located in Europe - closer to home No Safety certificates or Seaman's book required Possibility to take paid days off and vacation during the season Excellent working conditions, pension plan and health insurance Free internet (10 GB per month) Shore leave almost every day There are always more openings for German speakers Some vessels offer free German language courses on board Duties and responsibilities: Mix and serve cocktails professionally, following Scylla and international standards. Provide attentive service in the lounge, bar, restaurant, and on the sundeck. Joint responsibility for the coffee station in Lido Bar/ Bistro/ Arthur’s/ Public Area. Joint responsibility for the professional serving and presentation of the entire F& B offer on board according to company standards. Joint responsibility for guest satisfaction and the corresponding ratings. Joint responsibility for cleanliness, order and compliance with the Scylla hygienic concept according to HACCP in the Bar area as well as regular general cleaning. Joint responsibility for dealing carefully with beverages, equipment, machines and cleaning agents. Storing of the Bar stock and supplies. Help create and implement F& B activities and events on board. Joint responsibility for the separation of waste in the Bar areas. Active assistance in the restaurant as well as on the sundeck as per supervisor’s directives. Fair and equal treatment towards all crew. Joint responsibility for the compliance with safety guidelines in the entire Bar area. Knowledge of the ship and the respective daily program. Professional and friendly guest service according to company standard. etc. Requirements: Experienced within the hotel industry and/or previous (river) cruise ship experience. Excellent management, organizational and decision-making skills Guest focused Strong leadership abilities and organizational skills. Able to train crew members, able to build up the trainings and drive the change and look for operational efficiencies across the ship. Able to train crew members, detect training needs and develop tailor-made training Stress resistant, calm under pressure and resilient Team player with positive approach Open minded and flexible Strong social, interpersonal and intercultural competencies Professional attitude and appearance Reliable and hard-working, physical stamina to stand for a long period of time Excellent English skills (written & verball), other languages like German is an advantage.
